The Big Top

"Dear God. Not only am I unemployed and homeless, but I also have a pregnant woman, bereaved dog, elephant, and eleven horses to take care of."

- Water for Elephants

I recently finished reading Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen.  All in all, the book was okay. There was romance. There was hardship. Two people fell in love.  The token elephant saves the day. But what really appealed to me and kept my interest was the romance of running away with the circus.  And with that fascination, I began to search for old circus photos. Here are a few.

If it weren't for a fear of clowns, I think I'd love to run off and join the circus.

love these pictures!

It's interesting to see we are still on the same wavelength across the continent. At the moment I'm designing costumes for a circus show in southern florida and trying to combine a vintage feel with the modern-lycra-cirque style the performers are accustom to... a fun challenge. Maybe I'll put up some pictures soon.

My love to the whole family!
